The Xbox Series X first-party showcase is set for July 23rd at 9 AM PT. After all, weve only seen a very short teaser. So its entirely possible that the new Fable game could launch in 2021 or even later.

There is currently no Fable 4 release date, and the newest game in the series is, surprisingly, not called Fable 4, suggesting the series will be returning to its fantasy roots after it veered into. And that the next-gen console likely wont arrive until October or November this year. Fable 4's combat could feel like The Witcher. We know that the game is being developed for the upcoming Xbox Series X. Microsoft recently applied to have the trademark renewed, further sparking discussion of a reveal so we’ll have to wait and see what the showcase has to offer. Theres no word on a Fable 4 release date just yet. It even appeared on Mixer at one point (though nothing was actually shown). Since last year, there have been leaks about the next Fable including details on its world building and combat. “I guess this will rather be in the Horizon II-trailer-like ballpark, so an in-engine trailer but somewhat indicative of what to expect.” Instead, the reveal will apparently be akin to Sony’s Horizon: Forbidden West announcement. But the latest and greatest one comes courtesy of a well-known insider going by the name of Klobrille on the Resetera games forum, who has claimed Fable 4 will be revealed at the Xbox 20/20 games showcase on June 23. To know that this series wouldn’t go any further tore a hole in my near non. Some of my strongest nostalgic feelings come from the first Fable.

Followed by Fable II (on Xbox), Fable III, an Anniversary remaster, and a handful of other spin-off games, the series came to a close when co-op romp Fable Legends was cancelled in 2016. One such title that’s rumored to have been in development is Fable 4 with Forza Horizon developer Playground Games at the helm. Fable certainly has funny bones, but it has an earnest heart. Later this week, Microsoft will be hosting an Xbox Series X showcase focused on first-party titles from Xbox Game Studios.
